Chemnitz contemporary witnesses: Christa Warta
Christa Warta was born in Chemnitz. She lived on Kaßberg, which is now Walter-Oertel-Straße. She spent a lot of time on the nearby Andréplatz. She spent 5 March in the cellar of her home. She remembers the fear well and tells us how she felt that night.
