Parking ticket machines in parking zones C and D are in operation

At the beginning of November 2022, the parking ticket machines of the new parking zone C of level 2 of the parking space concept in the city centre were put into operation. At the same time, the resident parking permit came into force for residents of zone C.

The parking ticket machines for parking zone D have also been in operation since 21 November 2022.

The parking zones are signposted with the traffic sign of the same name. This means that parking in a contiguous area in several streets is only permitted with a parking ticket. The traffic signs are located exclusively at the zone entrances and exits. Within the parking zone, no further signs will indicate that a parking ticket must be purchased.

Parking in the zones is subject to a charge in accordance with the parking fee regulations of the City of Chemnitz in all public car parks. Residents with a valid resident parking permit are exempt from the parking fee.

Chemnitz residents and visitors to the city are asked to pay increased attention to the local parking regulations during the transition phase and to behave in accordance with the signage.


The parking concept for the city centre is based on a resolution passed by the city council in 2017.

Information on the planned implementation and resident parking permits

Information on the application and the parking zones of level 2a of the parking space concept can be obtained via the service hotline 115 of the City of Chemnitz (Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.). The prerequisite for the issue (new application, change, extension) of a resident parking permit is that:

  • the applicant is officially registered as having their main or secondary residence in the designated area,
  • has a vehicle registered in his/her name or can prove that he/she uses another person's vehicle on a permanent basis,
  • is in possession of a valid driving licence.

The requirements for obtaining a resident parking permit are the completion of an application form and the provision of proof by the applicant. The following documents must be submitted as originals or attached as copies:

  • Identity card with valid registration address or, in the case of secondary residence, a current registration certificate (not older than 1 year),
  • Residence permit or registration certificate for foreign applicants,
  • vehicle registration document,
  • and, if using a third-party vehicle, the owner's declaration of use,
  • Driving licence if using a third-party vehicle.

Apply for an ID card: with Amt24 online, by email or by post

The applications can be accessed at www.chemnitz.de/bewohnerparkausweis. There you will find further information on the application process. From there, the application can also be submitted conveniently online directly via https://amt24.sachsen.de/.

Alternatively, applications can be sent by e-mail to bewohnerparkausweis(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. The application can only be processed with a signature or electronic signature and complete documentation.

Applications can also be submitted by post. The postal address is Stadt Chemnitz, Verkehrs- und Tiefbauamt, Friedensplatz 1, 09111 Chemnitz.

The parking permits will then be sent by post. Personal collection is not possible.

Form and online services

Costs

An administrative fee of 30.00 euros is charged for the issue of the parking permit, which is valid for one year. It is possible to apply for a parking permit for a maximum of two years. The administration fee will be adjusted accordingly.

Each applicant is entitled to only one parking permit. It should be noted that the issue of a parking permit does not entitle the holder to a specific parking space or a free parking space.

Residents with resident parking permits for the old zones D1 and K1 valid until after 1 October 2022 will receive a new parking permit for the new resident parking zone D by post free of charge without having to apply.
