"Make it greener" days 2026
A varied programme awaited Chemnitz residents in mid-September each year. In addition to an Urban Nature Slam, where poets shared their thoughts on urban nature, there was also an Urban Nature Walk in 2023, where participants were guided through green oases in the city. The programme was supplemented by a World Café and various workshops that dealt intensively with the topic of biodiversity.
2024 was particularly exciting for the young people of Chemnitz: at the end of September, pupils from second to fifth grade were able to take part in the "NBS x Minecraft" project. This gave them the opportunity to use the game "Minecraft" to design green solutions for the city and learn through play how nature-based solutions (NBS) can help tackle local challenges such as climate change.
The community gardens drew attention to themselves with numerous events in 2025. Tours, talks and workshops on various topics relating to nature-based gardening, wild plants in the city and urban insect diversity were organised.
