Healthy in the park
"Healthy in the Park" event on 28 August 2026
On 12 June 2026 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the "Healthy in the Park" day of action will take place in the Park of the Victims of Fascism.
The event is part of the "Health in the Neighbourhood" funding programme, which is coordinated by the Chemnitz Office for Health and Prevention. The aim of this event is to present regional providers in the fields of health, exercise and prevention and to highlight low-threshold, neighbourhood-based services for children, families and senior citizens.
Together with numerous local partners - including a tip: tap e. V., AWO, Jugendkirche, KKH, AOK PLUS, Stadtmission e. V. and the Chemnitz City Sports Association - visitors can expect a varied programme.
The programme includes
- Outdoor exercise and skill course
- creative handicrafts
- hands-on activities centred around healthy eating
- small health and coordination tests
- smoothie bike
... and much more.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the day of action is intended in particular for kindergarten groups and primary schools; from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the event is also open to families and senior citizens from the neighbourhood.
The action day is part of the “Health in the Neighbourhood” support programme. The aim of the project is to bring health promotion directly into the neighbourhoods, to connect regional stakeholders, and to make low-threshold services visible and accessible to different target groups. At the same time, the aim is to strengthen public spaces as places for socialising, physical activity and prevention.
A varied programme of hands-on activities has been organised for the event in collaboration with various local organisations and partners. Visitors can look forward to, amongst other things, outdoor fitness and agility courses, creative craft activities, initiatives focusing on healthy eating, short health and coordination tests, and a smoothie bike. The programme is complemented by numerous information and hands-on stands, which invite visitors to try things out, find out more and exchange ideas.
In addition, two themed walks are on offer. The ASB is organising an art walk through the park from the perspective of people with disabilities. Furthermore, Arbeit und Leben Sachsen e. V. is inviting visitors to join a participatory walk on the theme of ‘The OdF’s Vibrant Park’. Advance registration is required for both walks (see below).
We look forward to welcoming you to the “Gesund im Park” action day!

The event invites participants on an interactive journey of discovery with five stops, where historical and artistic content is brought to life. Through deliberate shifts in perspective – for example, using wheelchairs, simulations of visual impairments or ear protectors – participants gain new insights and become more aware of different realities of life.
