Involvement of an experienced specialist (ieFK)
In the event of suspected child endangerment
The specialist with relevant experience is the term laid down by law in Germany for the counsellor responsible for assessing the risk of harm in cases of suspected risk to a child’s welfare (Sections 8a and 8b of Book VIII of the Social Code (SGB VIII)).
“Persons who come into contact with children or young people in a professional capacity are entitled, when assessing a risk to a child’s welfare in an individual case, to receive advice from a specialist with relevant experience from the local youth welfare agency.”

The involvement of a specialist with relevant experience serves to increase the confidence of professionals in making decisions regarding support and protective measures in
- child day care centres
- schools
- independent youth welfare organisations
- professionals bound by professional confidentiality
- clubs and associations, etc.
Counselling is always tailored to the specific individual case and is provided anonymously or under a pseudonym.
