Economic youth welfare
The Youth Welfare Office’s Financial Youth Support (WJH) department is responsible for covering costs, requiring contributions towards costs and processing cost reimbursements under SGB VIII for outpatient, semi-residential and residential care within the
- youth welfare services,
- educational support,
- integration support for children and young people with mental disabilities,
- support for young adults and
- provisional measures for the protection of children and young people
Promotion of education
Training support is state financial assistance towards living costs and training during the training period for school pupils and trainees who are not undertaking in-company or inter-company training.
Advance on maintenance
An advance on maintenance is a state social benefit designed to safeguard children’s entitlement to maintenance.
Children are entitled to advance maintenance payments
- of single mothers or fathers,
- if the other parent pays no maintenance or an amount below the minimum maintenance level, and
- if the child lives in Chemnitz.
Grants to youth welfare organisations for children's and youth recreational activities
The City of Chemnitz provides grants for recreational activities for children and young people during the designated school holidays. To be eligible, the applicant’s main residence must be in the City of Chemnitz and the organiser must be a recognised youth welfare organisation.
