"Make it greener days" 2025

"MACH'S GRÜNER" is a campaign for Chemnitz's urban nature. It aims to raise the profile of the topic of urban nature and highlight the opportunities for each individual to influence our urban nature. The urban nature team is made up of the City of Chemnitz's urban planning office, environmental office and green space office.

The campaign has taken place annually since 2023.

12 tours start in various locations in the Capital of Culture region and meet at the Karl Marx Monument to ride the last few metres accompanied by the police to the stadium on Gellertstraße, where they will be given a fitting welcome.

The 12 tours were all organised by STADTRADELN friends on a voluntary basis. They vary in length and are aimed at different target groups. From tours for particularly active cyclists to short family tours, everything is included! Simply register and be there when Chemnitz and the region start cycling on 6 September 2025!

Gardens, balconies and parks bring relaxing greenery to housing estates and provide a habitat for small animals. On a guided tour of the Nachhall e. V. seed garden, you can track down this species-rich diversity. You will gain an insight into the project, its origins and the cultivation of native seeds.

Terra Preta - the black earth of the Indians - is a way of providing the soil in the garden with "stable fertiliser".

After a brief theoretical introduction to the history, use and production of Terra Preta, the course will involve making this soil together for the "Knappteichgarten" project.

20.09.253 - 6 p.m.Autumn festival in the garden of ideasThere will be a small autumn festival in the Ideas Garden on the theme of apples. The Ideengarten has many old fruit trees, which will be harvested together for the festival. Apple juice can be made on site using the apple press, and apple cakes can also be baked in the clay oven. Fun for children is guaranteed.

In regular open meetings, interested citizens, volunteers from associations and professionally active people come together to discuss sustainable development. The aim is to exchange information, network and do things together. This group meets specifically on ecological topics, such as nature and animal protection. Everyone is welcome to get involved.

"The Chemnitz River should live again!" was written on the protest banner of environmentalists in 1990. We will trace the ecosystem and the development of the Chemnitz, learn more about its renaturalisation, explore its diverse inhabitants and finally dip our feet in the cool water ourselves.
