Work programme
The eea process in Chemnitz is supported by Kommunalentwicklung Mitteldeutschland GmbH (KEM). With the city council's decision to participate in the eea in 2009, a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and a profile of strengths and weaknesses was drawn up with the help of the eea consultant in order to determine the status quo of climate protection activities in Chemnitz and identify potential for action. The analysis focussed on the six fields of action:
- Development planning, regional planning
- Municipal buildings, facilities
- Supply, waste disposal
- mobility
- Internal organisation
- Communication, co-operation

Energy policy work programme

A medium-term energy policy work programme (EAP) for a period of three years is drawn up based on the results of the analysis of the current situation. It specifies the city's energy policy and thus also its climate protection goals. To this end, a binding action plan with a list of priorities is drawn up, which is updated annually as part of the internal re-audit (controlling). The process is repeated every four years.
The current EAP 2017 to 2020 and the action plan were drawn up by the energy team with the support of the eea consultant and adopted by the city council on 6 December 2017. It includes numerous climate protection measures in all six municipal fields of action.
