60 years of twinning between Chemnitz and Ljubljana - this connection is more alive than ever

The past weekend in the Slovenian capital was characterised by great cordiality, inspiring encounters and impressive projects.

Mayor Sven Schulze and the Chemnitz delegation were able to experience how lively and diverse the exchange between the two cities is - in schools, sport, culture and urban development.

The projects and initiatives visited were particularly impressive, such as the Center Rog - a large maker space with nine different labs. It shows how creative, open and future-orientated Ljubljana is. At the same time, it became clear how many joint ideas and opportunities there are in the partnership with Chemnitz.</p

A particular highlight was the warm welcome at the German Embassy by German Ambassador Sylvia Groneick. Many valuable discussions and new contacts were made in a personal atmosphere, which will further strengthen the exchange between the cities. Representatives of the Laufkultour, the Röhrsdorf riding and driving club, the Chemnitz band office and the sports high school, which have been in contact with Ljubljana for many years, were guests.

This trip showed that twinning means much more than an official agreement. It lives through people, encounters and shared ideas. And there are plenty of these between Chemnitz and Ljubljana.
