Saxony is celebrating its 1,100th anniversary – and not just in 2029, but from now on and across the whole region. With the participatory project ‘Zeig Dein Sachsen!’, ‘So geht sächsisch.’ is launching a state-wide competition designed to bring the 1,100th anniversary of the founding of Meissen Castle – the Albrechtsburg and cradle of modern Saxony – to the regions well in advance.
‘Show Your Saxony!’ is looking for projects that are thematically linked to the anniversary and explore topics such as history, tradition, dialect, local heritage or identity. Applications are open to committed associations, institutions, organisations and businesses, as well as individuals working on a freelance or commercial basis. The aim is to bring the state’s anniversary to life today: locally, in towns and cities, and in rural areas. Applicants can expect funding of up to 5,000 euros to help realise their projects. Events, school projects, exhibitions, book projects, sporting events or even the local history society’s chronicle – all these projects can be submitted as part of the ‘Zeig Dein Sachsen!’ campaign. In addition to financial support, the ideas selected by a jury will gain extra visibility and exposure through the wide-reaching channels of ‘So geht sächsisch.’ and, in doing so, will act as brand ambassadors for the Free State.
The first application phase ends on 22 September 2026.
