Background: Goalball
In goalball, the aim of the three players on the court is to shoot a 1.25-kilogram ball into the opposition’s goal. The players wear opaque goggles and use the bell embedded in the ball to guide them. They face each other on a pitch the size of a volleyball court. The match consists of two halves, each lasting twelve minutes. Goalball has been a Paralympic sport since 1976. A Goalball Bundesliga has been in existence since 2013. Chemnitzer BC are currently second in the table following the first half of the current season.
