“My Tree for Chemnitz” – Call for tree donations

Anyone interested can now use the themed city map to choose trees they would like to help look after by making a donation

Mayor Thomas Kütter and Mayor Ralph Burghart planted a special tree today on Johannisstraße (in front of the eins building). The ‘Royal Red’ Norway maple was planted and cared for there with the support of a tree donation. In doing so, they are promoting the “My Tree for Chemnitz” fundraising campaign, which was launched back in 2019.

Choose a tree and make a donation of 50 euros or more

To ensure that Chemnitz remains the green city it is, new trees must be planted regularly in public green spaces and along the streets. Furthermore, newly planted trees require a particular level of care during their first few years. Planting a tree in a street costs around 2,500 euros. This covers not only the planting itself but also the maintenance costs. You can contribute towards these costs with a donation of 50 euros or more. For donations of 250 euros or more, a plaque bearing the donor’s details and a personal dedication can be placed next to a selected ‘donor tree’.

At www.chemnitz.de/baumspenden, you can select your chosen tree from the themed city map available there. The donation trees are young trees that have already been planted along roads or in green spaces in the city of Chemnitz. They are shown in orange on the themed city map. The location number of the tree you click on is automatically entered into the online form. If you specify the locality or district, a suggested location will also be provided.
