Accessibility at the Golfbad has been improved

The barrier system at the entrance has been redesigned to be accessible

At the start of July, the barrier system at the entrance to the Golfbad was redesigned to allow for a barrier-free route in future. People with reduced mobility, as well as those using wheelchairs, walking frames or other mobility aids, can now pass through the area much more easily and, above all, independently.

This joint initiative by the City of Chemnitz and Eissport und Freizeit GmbH was implemented following a suggestion from a resident who himself has limited mobility. During a public consultation session with Mayor Thomas Kütter, this citizen highlighted the limited accessibility of the existing barrier system and suggested a barrier-free solution.

The redesign of the barrier system has once again improved accessibility in public spaces and promoted the participation of all people in public life.

At the same time, this example demonstrates the added value of direct dialogue between citizens, the local authority and municipal companies. Feedback and suggestions from citizens help to identify existing barriers and drive concrete improvements.
