Participants will not only be treated to fascinating stories and interesting background information – they will also have the opportunity to consciously experience the special atmosphere of the place. During the tour, guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings, the closeness to nature and the often unique ambience of this time of day. The stories, impressions and little discoveries along the way make the tour a varied experience that invites you not only to listen but also to pause and marvel.

This exciting holiday activity is all about the fascinating lives of frogs!
We’ll visit the vivarium and immerse ourselves in the world of these special amphibians. There, the children will learn interesting facts about the frogs’ way of life, their diet and their life cycle – from tadpole to fully-grown frog. With a bit of luck, we might even get to watch a feeding session. A special highlight: we’ll collect an audio recorder from the Vivarium that has been recording the sounds of the frogs there overnight.

On the second day at the City Library, we’ll use the recordings from the vivarium to create our own little radio play on the theme of ‘frogs’. This way, we combine experiencing nature with creativity and media work!

How can we keep monkeys meaningfully occupied? What behaviours do they display whilst doing so? And why is enrichment so important for animals at the zoo?
In this special holiday programme, we invite you to join us in designing creative enrichment activities for our geladas. Following a brief introduction to the behaviour and lifestyle of this fascinating species of monkey, you’ll learn why enrichment – that is, targeted activities – plays a central role in animal care. We will then work together to design small activities that cater to the natural abilities and needs of the geladas. To round off the session, we’ll observe together how the animals react to the activities we’ve created – an exciting insight into their intelligence, curiosity and social behaviour.
