Preliminary final result of the mayoral election in Chemnitz
Sven Schulze elected new Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz
At 7.32 pm, Chief Electoral Officer Miko Runkel announced the provisional final result of the mayoral election in Chemnitz. According to the results, Sven Schulze received the most votes cast in the second round of voting and has therefore been elected as the new Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz.

Voter turnout was 46.87%, significantly higher than in 2013, but lower than in the first ballot three weeks ago (49.71%). The second ballot was necessary because none of the candidates had achieved an absolute majority of more than 50 per cent of the votes in the first ballot.
