On Thursday, 23 April, from 5 to 7 pm, interested citizens of the Yorckgebiet and Gablenz districts are invited to a residents' meeting at the Berufliches Schulzentrum für Wirtschaft I, Lutherstraße 2. No registration is required to attend.
Mayor Sven Schulze, the mayoress and the mayors will provide information in the first part about current developments and key projects, including
- Major events in 2026, including the Hat Festival, Theatre of the World and the KosmosFestival,
- Opening of the new skate hall in the Schönherrfabrik,
- 150th anniversary of the Gablenz secondary school and renovation of the outdoor sports facilities,
- Integration of the Makarenko primary school as a "Startchancen" school,
- clothes containers and rubbish clearance,
- Crime among young people in the two neighbourhoods,
- Yorck Centre public library,
- Information on foster parents,
- Specialised concept for senior citizens and the project "Next door and in the middle - shaping participation in old age",
- New construction of the tram line in the direction of Zeisigwald,
- Major road construction measures, including in Clausstraße as a coordinated construction project, in Yorckstraße and Fürstenstraße,
- Further development of the Knappteich pond and the Bürgerpark Gablenz.
Afterwards, from around 6 p.m., participants will be able to address their concerns to the administration and city stakeholders and enter into dialogue. In addition to representatives of the City of Chemnitz, contact persons from the waste disposal and city cleaning company, Chemnitzer Verkehrsbetriebe AG and the Mitte-Ost citizens' platform will also be available.
Information on accessibility:
In order to make the event as accessible as possible, sign language interpreters will be present during the first part of the event. In addition, the rooms used in the auditorium area of the school centre are accessible via the lift to enable people with walking difficulties to attend.
Travel information:
The Vocational School Centre for Business I can be reached via bus routes 62/72 (stops Zschopauer Straße or Rudolfstraße). Free parking is available directly on the grounds of the school centre (entrance via Lutherstraße, to the left of the building complex). Parking spaces for people with disabilities are also available in the immediate vicinity of the lift and will be signposted on site.
