Cooperation in committees
Participation as an informed resident
Residents of the City of Chemnitz can participate in committees and advisory boards of the City of Chemnitz as expert residents. They are then advisory members of these bodies. However, they do not have the right to vote in committees, whereas they do in advisory boards. Expert residents are appointed by the City Council.
In accordance with the city's main statutes, up to five expert residents can be appointed to each committee, including one person who has not yet reached the age of 27. Appointments are always made by secret ballot on the basis of the nominations submitted.
At the beginning of an election period, the vacancies to be filled are advertised in the official gazette and here on www.chemnitz.de. Residents who have reached the age of 14 and have the relevant expertise in the committee's specialist area may apply.
