Adoption mediation

Adoption is the adoption of a child and the legal establishment of a new parent-child relationship.
Adoption mediation is the bringing together of children under the age of 18 and the persons who wish to adopt a child. The best interests of the child are paramount.
Adoption mediation is carried out by the Youth Welfare Office, Social Services Department.
The services include
Discreet counselling for parents who wish to give up their child for adoption
Informing parents wishing to adopt about the adoption placement process
Counselling and assessment of adoption applicants
Counselling before, during and after the adoption
Counselling and support for stepchild adoption
Counselling and support in the mutual search for adoptees and families of origin
