Child protection service
of the General Social Service in the Youth Welfare Office

The city of Chemnitz has been offering a wide range of support for Chemnitz families in all areas of life for years. The variety ranges from sufficient daycare places for the youngest children to educational programmes for parents. Help, advice and support are available for almost every conceivable situation in the lives of family members of all ages.
The ASD has set up a "Socio-educational Child Protection Service" to protect children. As early help for families, this child protection service is a central point of contact for those seeking advice on the topic of child welfare and the prevention of child endangerment. The child protection service is also your point of contact in acute crises when the safety of children is at risk.
The child protection service in the ASD can be contacted directly by citizens, educators, teachers, doctors, police and other reporters. This avoids delays in taking action and enables counselling or immediate action to be taken if there is a suspicion that a child's welfare is at risk.
