Child and youth emergency service
The emergency service for children and young people has been operated by SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH on behalf of the City of Chemnitz since 1 July 2019. Children and young people who have left or had to leave their parental home for various reasons can find care, accommodation and meals from the staff until a solution to the problem or another accommodation or care option has been found.
Finding support in the emergency service:
- Children and young people who are in distress and report themselves to the emergency service
- Children and young people who are picked up by security forces and brought to the emergency service
- Children and young people who need to be removed from their previous environment immediately
- unaccompanied foreign children and young people.
The legal basis is §§ 42, 42a SGB VIII of the Child and Youth Welfare Act.
Taking into care, crisis intervention and granting protection according to § 8a SGB VIII, §§ 42, 42a ff. SGB VIII.
Further services outside the office hours of the Youth Welfare Office:
- Telephone counselling for private individuals on the issue of child endangerment
- Counselling for professionals from schools, youth welfare services and security forces

No way out?
Decentralised orientation of the child and youth emergency service
New buildings on Chopinstrasse and Reichenhainer Strasse put into operation
The City of Chemnitz's emergency child and youth services were decentralised.
To this end, two new facilities were built at Chopinstraße 2 and Reichenhainer Straße 85, each with ten places for the age group from 7 to under 18 years (8 regular places, 2 emergency places).
For children aged 0 to 6 years, the toddler shelter has been available since 1 June 2019 with six places under the auspices of Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e. V. at Parkstraße 26.
