Advance on maintenance

Advance maintenance payments are a social benefit provided by the state to secure the maintenance entitlement of children.
Advice and applications for advance maintenance payments are accepted in the BVZ I customer portal (see contacts).
The following children are entitled to advance maintenance payments
- of single mothers or fathers,
- if the other parent does not pay any maintenance or pays less than the minimum maintenance and
- if the child lives in Chemnitz.
As the maintenance advance is based on the minimum maintenance, the amount has been as follows since 1 January 2025:
- 1st age group: Children from 0 to 5 years: 227 euros
- 2nd age group: Children from 6 to 11 years: 299 euros
- 3rd age group: Children from 12 to 17 years: 394 euros
