Parking in Chemnitz is now even easier. Drivers can now also pay their parking fees by mobile phone. To this end, the city is cooperating with smartparking, an initiative for digital car park management. As in other German cities, all public car parks managed by the city offer the option of "mobile phone parking" in addition to conventional parking machines.

The parking fee can be paid by phone via an app. The parking time can be stopped or extended as required. This eliminates the need for overpayment and parking fines due to expired tickets. For this convenience, providers charge different surcharges on top of the municipal parking fee. Information about mobile phone parking service providers and their instructions on how to get started with mobile phone parking can be found on the conventional parking machines.

The apps of the following providers are currently available for mobile phone parking: "EasyPark", "Parkster", and "mobilet".

The employees of the public order office can recognise whether a car has a digital ticket by the number plate, which they compare with a central online system.

Smartparking

smartparking - the initiative for digital parking space management - has been in existence since autumn 2015. smartparking's founding members include the providers "EasyPark", "ParkNow" and "Mobile City". smartparking supports cities and municipalities in introducing efficient and citizen-oriented solutions for cashless payment of parking fees.
