moreUntil mid-May, a total of more than 330 new street trees will be planted, mainly in the south-west of Chemnitz. The trees will be replanted in existing but empty tree locations. The aim is to enhance street spaces and improve the quality of life in the city.

The poet, writer, essayist and translator Juri Andruchowytsch will receive the International Stefan Heym Prize of the City of Chemnitz 2026. The award ceremony by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will take place on 18 April 2026, traditionally on the occasion of Stefan Heym's birthday (10 April 1913) and this year at the event location 'die fabrik', Zwickauer Straße 145.
