Einsiedel: Youth Club Club E
The youth club in Einsiedel, which has been in existence for years, was expanded. The facility was extended by one floor. The newly acquired space is available to both the youth club and the local council and can be used for events. A particular highlight is the slot car racing track, which brings additional variety to club life. With the intervention area of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, a place has been created in Einsiedel that strengthens community, creates space for encounters and opens up new opportunities for leisure and engagement.
To extend the youth club in Einsiedel by an additional floor, the old roof was dismantled after thorough structural testing and the building was reinforced. Among other things, a new ceiling, additional beams and a new load-bearing wall were installed. Two staircases now lead to the new floor, which was built using modern timber panel construction.
The newly created area of around 150 square metres offers a wide range of possible uses. The main attraction on the first floor is a car-slot racing track, where workshops for children, young people and adults are planned in addition to international championships. The new rooms are also available for clubs and initiatives as well as events organised by the local council and can accommodate up to 60 people.
With this intervention space, the city of Chemnitz has not only expanded the building spatially, but also strengthened its function as a social and cultural meeting place for the Einsiedel district - an example of sustainable neighbourhood development in the course of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
325,000 euros from the European Capital of Culture budget were available for the design of the Einsiedel youth club - as a so-called public square.
Opening on the weekend of the intervention areas
On 23 August 2025, Mayor Michael Stötzer opened the extension to the "Club E" youth club at Seydelstraße 26. The event was part of the "Fertsch" weekend, which celebrated the completion of almost all of the intervention areas. After the inauguration for invited guests, anyone interested could visit the building at an open day and try out the car-slot racing track.
