The EU-Japan Festival Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded in 1992 and funded by European governments, the Agency for Cultural Affairs and other Japanese government institutions, as well as donations from Japanese companies such as Toyota, Hitachi and Mitsubishi. Among other things, this supports artists who serve regional communities and social responsibility, thereby contributing to the development of a healthy society.

The aim of the trip was to get to know potential partners in Japan, to present the Chemnitz projects and programmes and to explore possible cooperation and support within the Capital of Culture family.

Points of contact include exchanges with Japanese artists as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 or exhibitions or residencies by artists from Chemnitz or Saxony in Japan.
