Concrete exchange agreed for the Capital of Culture year 2025

Am vergangenen Wochenende reiste die Kulturbürgermeisterin der Stadt Chemnitz, Dagmar Ruscheinsky, ins slowenische Nova Gorica, um dort mit dem neu gewählten Oberbürgermeister der Stadt, Samo Turel (Mitte), und dem Bürgermeister der Stadt Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, eine erweiterte Absichtserklärung zur gemeinsamen Ausrichtung der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt 2025 zu unterzeichnen.

(23. September 2023) Last weekend, the Mayor of Culture of the City of Chemnitz, Dagmar Ruscheinsky, travelled to Nova Gorica in Slovenia to sign an extended declaration of intent with the city's newly elected mayor, Samo Turel (centre), and the mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna.Mayor of the city, Samo Turel (centre), and the Mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, to sign an extended declaration of intent to jointly host the European Capital of Culture 2025. This confirms the agreement reached in 2021 and specifies projects and plans for the European Capital of Culture year.

In the agreement, the cities commit to working together in the field of culture, creativity and the arts in 2025 and beyond. The aim is to strengthen international cooperation in this area, the bond of friendship and understanding between their citizens and to promote the development of culture for the benefit of both cities.

Based on the agreement, it is planned to develop up to ten joint cultural projects as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025. Specifically, the collaboration between Makers United and Xcenter, the March of Friendship in Nova Gorica, the Gusti di Frontiera gourmet festival in Gorizia and the wine festival in Chemnitz are mentioned.

The exchange of artists and art groups in "Artists in Residence" programmes, the promotion of exchanges between students, citizens, creators, employees and experts as well as the support of youth organisations with the aim of promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences between artists and art groups.The cities of Chemnitz, Nova Gorica and Gorizia are committed to supporting youth organisations with the aim of promoting the involvement and active participation of young people in all areas of cultural life.
