Bundestag election in Chemnitz on Sunday, 23 February

Presentation of the provisional election results in Chemnitz on Sunday evening in the town hall and at www.chemnitz.de - application for postal voting documents still possible until 21 February, 3 p.m.

The Bundestag election will take place in Chemnitz on Sunday, 23 February 2025. Around 183,000 Chemnitz residents are being called upon to cast their votes to help decide the composition of the 21st German Bundestag for the next four years. The polling stations in the 129 electoral districts of Chemnitz will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election Sunday, after which the votes will be counted.

On election day, at 3 pm, the 61 postal ballot boards will meet at the Vocational School Centre for Technology II - Craftsmen's School, Schloßstraße 3 and at the secondary school "Am Hartmannplatz", Hartmannstraße 21, to carry out the admission check and determine the postal ballot result.
The postal ballot results will then be determined by the postal ballot boards from 6 pm.

Also from 6 pm (admission from 5 pm), the provisional Chemnitz election results will be presented to the public in the City Council Chamber in the Town Hall, Markt 1.

As in previous elections, interested citizens, media representatives and representatives of parties and voter associations will be able to follow the election results of the 190 Chemnitz general and postal ballot boards live on a large projection screen.

At the same time, the provisional election results will be published on the City of Chemnitz website at www.chemnitz.de.


Postal voting and instant voting

Around 47,300 Chemnitz residents have already made use of the option of postal voting or instant voting before 23 February 2025 (requested postal voting documents), around 23,500 of which were requested online.

Applications for postal voting documents and instant voting at the postal voting office in Moritzhof* are still possible until 3 pm on 21 February. The election letter must be returned to the city's postal voting centre by 6 pm on election day.


Public meeting of the district electoral committee to determine the result of the Bundestag election in constituency 161 Chemnitz

The district electoral committee of constituency 161 Chemnitz for the Bundestag election will meet on Monday. 3 March, 10 a.m., in the town hall, room 118, for a public meeting to determine and establish the final result of the Bundestag election on 23 February 2025 in constituency 161 Chemnitz. Everyone has access to the meeting.
