Evening grammar school and evening secondary school move

Arno-Schreiter-Straße school site is made available for special schools

The two second-chance schools in Chemnitz, the Abendgymnasium and the Abendoberschule, will be relocated from their current location at Arno-Schreiter-Straße 3 this summer. The Abendoberschule will move to the school site of the Marianne-Brandt-Oberschule Chemnitz. The evening grammar school is relocated to the Dr.-Wilhelm-André-Gymnasium.

The school site at Arno-Schreiter-Straße 3 will in future be used by the pupils of the two special schools specialising in mental development, Janusz-Korczak-Schule and Schule "Am Zeisigwald".

With the update of the school network planning (B-034/2024), a further increase in the number of pupils was identified for these two special schools. Although the school site at Jugendweg 1a is already being used as a branch, there is no longer enough space.

Various options were examined in order to gain the necessary capacity. The Arno-Schreiter-Straße 3 school site turned out to be the only option that could be realised in the short term. The branch in Jugendweg 1a will then no longer be used for this purpose.
