On the occasion of the ceremonial opening of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, high-ranking guests were honoured today, Saturday, 18 January, with an entry in the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz following the ceremony in the Opera House.
In the presence of Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and the EU Commissioner for Intergenerational Justice, Youth, Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, signed the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz in the Opera Café on the second floor of the Chemnitz Opera House.
Afterwards, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the other guests came together for an informal get-together with a small circle of Chemnitz residents who have made a significant contribution to the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 project and continue to do so or are involved as project partners. They are representative of the diverse and cosmopolitan Chemnitz and the spirit of the movers and shakers who have made a significant contribution to bringing the title of European Capital of Culture to Chemnitz.
