Short description:

The Harthauer Hang garden site is located on the outskirts of Chemnitz in the Harthau district and was established around 1929 on a meadow orchard. It initially comprised 22 gardens, but over the years and after the association was founded on 27 October 1938, the number of gardens grew to 31.
The 15,603 m² association site is privately owned and in the possession of the Federal Property Administration. The hillside location offers a beautiful view over the city. Each plot is very individual in size, with leased plots ranging from 140m² to 823m². In the centre of the complex is a 600m² natural biotope (quarry pond) with numerous rare animal and plant species.
The cultural events in the club have numerous highlights. Club anniversaries are celebrated and annual barbecues are organised.
A comprehensive chronicle was compiled for the 80th anniversary of the garden centre, which is constantly being expanded. The average age of the members is 52. The club grounds include a children's playground, a fairground, a clubhouse and a stone oven barbecue. The entire club grounds are also equipped with WiFi.
