Vaccination protection

The so-called "childhood diseases" are by no means harmless. Measles, mumps, whooping cough and other infectious diseases can cause permanent damage or even be life-threatening.
The antibodies that your child received via the umbilical cord in the last weeks of pregnancy only protect it against some of the pathogens. In addition, the "nest protection" decreases in the first few months of life, even before the child has fully built up its own immune system.
Vaccinations should be started early, preferably in the 9th week of life, because your child will only be protected during the sensitive baby and toddler phase if immunisation is started as early as possible and completed at the recommended times.
A word about whooping cough. Whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease that manifests itself in severe coughing fits with thick mucus and can have serious consequences for babies. Babies have no protection against whooping cough and can only be immunised against it from the age of 3 months. It is therefore particularly important that all persons who have contact with the baby are immunised against the disease and take advantage of the due booster vaccinations.
