Inclusion Officer of the City of Chemnitz

The Inclusion Officer is the contact person and advocate for people with disabilities, their relatives and social services. She supports people with disabilities, campaigns for equal participation in the community and helps to prevent disadvantages. It also participates in committees that promote and help shape the development of a barrier-free Chemnitz.

It is involved in various committees of the Free State of Saxony, such as the State Youth Welfare Committee and the Saxon State Advisory Council for the Interests of People with Disabilities.

It regularly reports on its work to the city council.

The joint activity report of the Inclusion Officer, the Children and Youth Officer and the Migration Officer 2019-2024 was presented to the City Council on 19 June 2024.

"Favourite places for all" investment programme

Since 2014, the Free State of Saxony has been funding investments to remove barriers under the motto "Favourite places for everyone".

The aim of the measures is to make it possible for ALL people to use any restaurant, go to the cinema, visit a museum or actively participate in sports in a club without restrictions. Many of these facilities are not yet accessible or fully usable for wheelchair users, for example, or information is not understandable for the hearing and visually impaired or people with learning difficulties.

The Free State of Saxony is providing the city of Chemnitz with 289,800 euros for 2025. Applications for this will be accepted by the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office until 31 October 2024.
