Education package for recipients of child benefit and child allowance/housing benefit
Entitlement to benefits
The following are entitled to benefits
persons for a child if they are entitled to child benefit for this child and
- the child lives with them in the same household and they receive child supplement for a child or
- if they and the child in receipt of child benefit are household members to be taken into account when granting housing benefit
- and if the differentiated requirements described for each benefit are met.
A joint application ("global application") can be used to apply for benefits for
- Excursions with the day care centre or school trips
- Lunch at the daycare centre or under school responsibility (school or after-school care)
- personal school supplies
- Participation in social and cultural life
A single application can be made for benefits for
- learning support
- Multi-day school trip / multi-day trip to the day care centre
- School transport

Differentiated eligibility requirements:
The child
- must not be older than 25 years,
- must attend a general or vocational school or a day care centre,
- must not receive a training allowance.
Amount of the benefit:
This is based on the certificate from the school or day care centre.

- must not receive a training allowance,
- must take part in a communal lunchtime meal at school or in a day care centre/after-school care centre
Amount of the benefit:
The costs for lunch are covered.

- must attend a general or vocational school,
- must not receive a training allowance.
Amount of the benefit:
The amounts are adjusted annually. The following applies in 2021:
- EUR 51.50 for the 2nd half of the 2020/2021 school year
- EUR 103.00 for the 1st half of the 2021/2022 school year
Differentiated eligibility requirements:
The child must not be older than 18 years.
Amount of benefit:
The prerequisite is participation in at least one activity for which costs are incurred.
A requirement totalling 15 euros per month is taken into account for
- Membership fees for sports, games, culture and socialising (e.g. sports club)
- Lessons in artistic subjects (e.g. music school)
- Guided cultural education activities (e.g. adult education centre courses)
- Participation in camps (e.g. scouts, holiday camps).
Differentiated eligibility requirements:
The child
- must not be older than 25 years,
- must attend a general or vocational school,
- must not receive a training allowance,
- must have a need for suitable and additionally required learning support, i.e.
- the level of performance is not sufficient to achieve essential learning objectives and
- this can be averted if learning support is provided and
- the underachievement is not due to unexcused absences or persistent misbehaviour and
- there are no suitable free learning support programmes available at the school.
A certificate from the school confirming the need for learning support is required (attached to the application form).

The need for learning support is determined on the basis of the certificate from the school.

- must not receive a training allowance.

This is based on the certificate from the school or day care centre.
Differentiated eligibility requirements:
The child
- must not be older than 25 years,
- must attend a general or vocational school,
- must not receive a training allowance,
- must be dependent on school transport to attend the nearest school of the chosen educational programme
and the necessary actual expenses are not covered by other organisations.
Amount of the benefit:
The amount of the benefit is calculated individually and depends on the means of transport used and the amount of the benefit according to the statutes of the City of Chemnitz for school transport or according to the statutes of the ZVMS.
