On Saturday, 10 May, the city of Chemnitz and the surrounding cultural region invite you to the Chemnitz Museum Night "United!". During the day in the cultural region and at night in Chemnitz, numerous museums and cultural institutions will open their doors and offer visitors many insights and special programmes. Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky will officially open the Museum Night at 5.30 pm in the TIETZ. From 6 p.m. until 1 a.m., night owls can then go on tour in Chemnitz.
Tickets and advance booking:
A ticket for the Museum Night costs 12 euros (reduced 6 euros), for families there is a family ticket for 24 euros. Admission for children up to school age is free of charge.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.chemnitz.de/tickets_museumsnacht, in the participating museums and at various advance booking offices, including Markt 1 - Ticket-Service der Städtischen Theater Chemnitz, the Freie Presse shops, the CVAG Service Centre and other partner outlets. It is recommended that tickets are purchased in advance to avoid waiting times. Around 1000 tickets have already been sold.
Due to the high level of interest, there may be waiting times in some facilities. It is therefore recommended that you start early and be prepared for possible delays.
Selected programme items can be reserved in advance free of charge via the event app (until midnight on 9 May 2025): https: //museumsnacht.lineupr.com/chemnitz. The app also offers digital access to the full programme, which is available in German and English.
Shuttle service
The ticket for the Museum Night not only entitles you to admission to the participating museums and institutions, but also to use public transport throughout the VMS network area. It is valid from 9 a.m. on the day of the event until 4 a.m. the following day.
Included is a comprehensive shuttle service from 5 p.m., which enables guests to visit the various institutions in Chemnitz flexibly. The special lines start at central points in the city centre, such as the Stadthalle stop or in front of the Karl Marx Monument on Brückenstraße. Purple Path tours only with a Museum Night ticket and reservation
As a highlight of the Museum Night, two extra bus tours of the Purple Path art and sculpture trail offer a great opportunity to discover the sculptures and works of art in Chemnitz and the surrounding area. The buses depart at 10 am and 3 pm from the Stadthalle bus stop in front of the Karl Marx Monument. If you would like to travel, you will need a ticket for the Museum Night and must have reserved a seat online at https://museumsnacht.lineupr.com/chemnitz. Two bus trips are currently sold out, but there are still places left for two tours.
The programme
The event attracts visitors with a programme of 50 museums, galleries and cultural institutions in Chemnitz as well as seven museums in the cultural region, which can be visited with the Museum Night Ticket.
In Chemnitz, the latest exhibitions opened as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 can be seen in the museums, as well as permanent exhibitions and special offers for the Museum Night.
During the day in the region, the ZeitWerkStadt adventure museum in Frankenberg, the Esche Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna, the Gellert Museum in Hainichen, the Historische Schauweberei in Braunsdorf, the Museum Steinkohlenbergbau Sachsen - KohleWelt in Oelsnitz, the museums of the city of Mittweida and the Textile and Racing Museum in Hohenstein-Ernstthal will be taking part.
As in previous years, a stamp card for the Museum Night is included in the programme booklet, allowing visitors to collect a stamp at each point they visit.
