Promotion of small businesses in Chemnitz
The future of your small business is in your hands. But even the strongest business can sometimes use an extra boost to continue to grow and be successful. This is where the City of Chemnitz's new funding programme, supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), comes into play. This programme is specifically designed to give small businesses the boost they need to get off to a flying start. Whether you just have a business idea, want to set up or expand your company - we are here for you.
The Chemnitz City Council has adopted the KU guideline for the granting of subsidies as part of the "Sustainable integrated urban development ERDF 2021 to 2027" funding programme. The programme offers financial support of up to 40% of the eligible costs for investments in your company. With a maximum of €25,000 per company, you can realise projects that will advance your business and help you achieve your goals. Whether it's purchasing new equipment, modernising your business processes or opening up new markets - we're here to help.

Eligible for funding are small companies
- with a maximum of 49 employees
- with an annual turnover of no more than € 10 million
- whose economic sector is not excluded from funding in accordance with the applicable funding criteria
- that have received less than €200,000 in aid in the past 3 years
Area of application
The grants are available to small businesses for measures in the "ERDF-Chemnitz Centre", "ERDF-Zwickauer Straße" and "ERDF-Altchemnitz" funding areas of the city of Chemnitz as shown on the map.
The applicant must set up, run or relocate a business or business premises in the assisted area.
Further requirements
- The project has not yet begun, unless the start of the project has been granted without the need for funding.
- The overall financing of the project is demonstrably secured with the submission of the application documents.

- First check whether your investment idea fulfils all the requirements for KU funding.
The following investment measures by small companies are subsidised:
- Investments that companies have to make to secure and expand their location or relocate to a new location in the assisted area (relocation and moving costs) in order to secure and/or expand their range of production and services. This includes measures to increase external attractiveness, internal efficiency and product quality,
- Investments by the commercial sector/cultural and creative industries as well as freelancers in the assisted area, including relocation/start-ups. This includes: Music clubs, theatres, cabarets/variety theatres and cinemas,
- Investments that serve to secure and create new jobs in the assisted areas,
- Investments for the introduction of new production technologies as well as measures for new environmental and energy technologies in the assisted areas,
- Investments to create accessibility for employees and customers at the company's location.
The granting of de minimis aid is excluded in the areas listed in Article 1 of Regulation (EU) No. 1407/2013. Areas that are excluded from funding can be found in the funding guideline under point 3.2.
- The maximum funding rate is 40% and covers a maximum of €25,000 per small company.
- The funding is project funding. It is granted as partial funding in the form of a one-off, non-repayable grant towards eligible expenditure, provided that the statutory regulations are complied with.
Complete and sign all the documents listed.
The applications must contain
a) the application for a grant,
b) a description of the project,
c) a timetable,
d) a cost and financing plan for the project,
e) proof of own funds and third-party funds,
f) a business plan or business concept with proof that the project is a small

g) the de minimis declaration on aid already received or applied for,
h) a declaration of any other funding received or applied for.
The applicant may be required to submit further documents as part of the processing. A contact person in the Business Division is available to provide information and advice on the application process.
