EU funding
Benefit from the EU's transnational funding programmes. Transnational means that the projects are not organised and implemented at government level but at social level. It is important to have an innovative idea and an organisation that is entitled to receive funding (e.g. associations, institutions, authorities) as well as sufficient preparation time. The EU Office of the City of Chemnitz provides help and support with the application process and the handling of formalities.
The Liaison Office of the Saxon Municipalities in Brussels will soon be producing a new "EU Funding Handbook for Saxon Municipalities". This collection will provide a clear overview of funding programmes and funding opportunities for associations, institutions and companies with European partners.

You can research funding programmes in the Saxony Funding Database:
Current funding information from the EU
Calls for proposals for funding programmes are published in the Official Journal of the European Union. This is published daily in more than twenty official EU languages and provides information on all relevant developments relating to Europe. The C series (communications and notices) and L series (legislation) can be accessed via EUR-Lex.
CERV - Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme 2021-2027
The aim of the CERV programme is to protect and promote the rights and values enshrined in the EU Treaties, the Charter and other applicable international human rights conventions. This is achieved in particular by supporting civil society organisations and other actors at local, regional, national and transnational level.
The programme also aims to strengthen civic and democratic participation with the aim of maintaining and developing open, rights-based, democratic, equal and inclusive societies. Divided into four programme areas, CERV has a total of more than 1.4 billion euros at its disposal.
New funding period of the Saxony - Czech Republic cooperation programme 2021-2027
The Saxony - Czech Republic cooperation programme has been in existence since 2015. Negotiations for the 2021-2027 multiannual financial framework were recently finalised. Many things will therefore remain the same in the new funding period, but there are also some changes.
A total of EUR 152,364,000 in ERDF funding is available to the Saxony - Czech Republic cooperation programme for the 2021-2027 funding period. Of this, 141,698,520 euros can be used to fund projects. Approximately 10,665,480 euros of ERDF funding will be used for the technical implementation of the cooperation programme.
The programme area remains the same on the Czech side; the districts of Liberec, Ústí and Karlovy Vary are still part of the programme. On the German side, the former Saxon districts of Vogtlandkreis, Zwickau, Erzgebirgskreis, Mittelsachsen, Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge, Bautzen and Görlitz as well as the independent cities of Dresden and Chemnitz remain part of the programme area. On the other hand, the two Thuringian districts of Greiz and Saale-Orla-Kreis no longer benefit from the funding.
Progress has also been made in the development of the cooperation programme. A draft of the programme document is now available and the Saxon state parliament was informed of this at the beginning of December 2021. Once the cooperation programme has been submitted to the European Commission at the beginning of 2022, the Commission will evaluate the document and issue a decision for approval no later than five months after the date of submission.
Funding guideline of the State Directorate of Saxony
According to the joint directive of the Saxon State Chancellery and the Saxon State Ministry of Justice and Europe on the "Promotion of interregional and cross-border cooperation and the European idea", projects involving interregional or cross-border cooperation and the dissemination of the European idea are eligible for funding. This supports and intensifies cross-border and interregional cooperation.
