Hazardous waste from private households may not be disposed of with residual waste. It must be handed in on the collection dates for hazardous waste at the recycling centres of the City of Chemnitz waste disposal and city cleaning company (ASR) or at the small delivery point of the Chemnitz waste management association (AWVC).

Hazardous waste, also known as special waste or problem waste, may only be handed over to carriers with a licence and approved facilities (specialist disposal companies).

If no more than two tonnes of hazardous waste are disposed of annually (small quantities), waste producers must keep transfer notes as proof. If larger quantities of hazardous waste are produced, the waste producer must apply for a waste producer number for the electronic waste records procedure (eANV).

If hazardous waste is disposed of in quantities of up to a maximum of 20 tonnes per calendar year (collective disposal), the waste producers must keep transfer notes as proof. The transfer note must be kept for three years as proof of proper disposal.

For quantities of hazardous waste exceeding 20 tonnes per year, the waste producer must prepare electronic waste disposal records and sign them electronically using a signature card. The proof of disposal must be sent electronically to an authorised disposal facility, where it must be accepted and signed.

For the transport of hazardous waste, the waste producer must create and sign electronic consignment notes; the carrier and disposal company sign the consignment notes when accepting the waste. Copies of the consignment notes must be carried during transport.

Applying for a waste producer number

The Lower Waste Authority of the City of Chemnitz issues a producer number for the electronic records procedure for hazardous waste on request.
