Euba's best-known structure is the Euba dam
The dam, built between 1912 and 1914, served as a water reservoir for the German Reichsbahn. Underground pipelines transported the water to the Hilbersdorf railway depot. The dam wall is 14 metres high and 180 metres long. From the 1950s, the reservoir was used as a natural swimming pool, which had to be closed in the 1980s due to dilapidation.
The association Rettet die Talsperre Euba! e.V., founded in October 2008, has set itself the goal of saving the Euba reservoir, which has been neglected for a long time, from imminent decay and making it available again as a recreational facility for the inhabitants of the municipality of Euba, the city of Chemnitz and the neighbouring municipalities.

The village of Euba, probably founded at the end of the 12th century, was first mentioned in a document in 1250 as "Iwen". At this time, the village belonged to the lordship of the Lords of Waldenburg. A moated castle served as the feudal lord's residence in Euba. It was probably located on the site of today's village pond. The feudal estate had jurisdiction and the right to brew and serve beer. Euba came under the rule of the Wettin dynasty in 1323. At the end of the 16th century, it was subject to the Electoral Saxon office of Schellenberg, which was called Amt Augustusburg from 1590 following the construction of the Augustusburg hunting lodge.
Towards the end of the 16th century, gold placers were operated in the lower part of Euba. Euba was not spared the turmoil of the Hussite War, the Schmalkaldic War and the Thirty Years' War. The plague also ravaged the village in 1633. In the 18th century, the people of Euba not only worked in the nearby quarries of the Zeisigwald, but also quarried slate on the Wachtelberg and Bergeshöh until 1870. In the 19th century, linen weavers and hosiery weavers settled in Euba.
Euba belonged to the royal Saxon office of Augustusburg as an official village until 1856. After the end of the Saxon office constitution in 1856, Euba was under the jurisdiction of the Augustusburg court office and, from 1875, the Chemnitz administrative district. The feudal estate of Euba was purchased by the city of Chemnitz in 1928 and used as a municipal estate.
The municipality of Euba was incorporated into the district-free city of Chemnitz on 1 March 1994.
