Local action plan of the city of Chemnitz
LAP coordination centre

As a municipal strategy and network, the Local Action Plan (LAP) provides the basis for action to develop a diverse and vibrant culture of coexistence in Chemnitz. As part of the federal programme "Demokratie Leben" (Living Democracy), networking is strengthened through partnerships for democracy. The LAP is part of the City of Chemnitz's Crime Prevention Council and is networked with other areas of prevention. The Local Action Plan is part of the prevention work in the areas of democracy promotion, democracy education and violence prevention. The coordination centre manages the financial resources, advises the applicants and supervises the network work. It cooperates with the external coordination office within the framework of the guidelines of the federal programme "Living Democracy" and implements the Partnership for Democracy.

LAP Monitoring Committee
The Monitoring Committee is the non-public advisory body for the implementation of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz and the "Partnership for Democracy". It is made up of 17 voting members from the network of offices and civil society. These were appointed by the City Council. The monitoring committee members cast a vote and recommend to the coordination centre which projects should receive financial support. The criteria of the funding guideline are used for the evaluation. The monitoring committee advises the coordination centre on the technical and strategic implementation of the municipal action strategy for the promotion of democracy.
LAP Monitoring Committee gains new members
From 1 January 2024, three new members will join the LAP Monitoring Committee: the associations Courage - Werkstatt für demokratische Bildungsarbeit e.V., Wiederbelebung kulturellen Brachlandes e. V. and Neue Arbeit Chemnitz e. V.
With these three new members, we have once again gained competent civil society players who are actively committed to democratic, tolerant, equal, inclusive and diverse coexistence in Chemnitz.
