Parking
With the city council resolution on the "Chemnitz city centre parking space concept"(resolution B-157/2016) and the "City of Chemnitz ordinance on parking fees" (resolution B-260/2016), the gradual introduction of comprehensive parking space management in Chemnitz city centre was approved.
All public parking spaces in the city centre will be managed uniformly and transparently according to the mixed principle. Parking is permitted either with a valid parking ticket or with a resident parking permit.

Implementation of the car park concept
Car park concept stage 2b is implemented
From 01.07.2024, the new resident parking zone E will be put into operation according to the parking space concept for the city centre of Chemnitz (resolution no. B-157/2016). Parking in the area is subject to charges in accordance with the parking fee regulations of the City of Chemnitz in all public car parks. Residents with a valid resident parking permit are exempt from the parking fee.
Pay for parking with your mobile phone
Also possible in Chemnitz with a mobile phone app
Parking in Chemnitz is now even easier. Drivers can now also pay their parking fees by mobile phone. To this end, the city is cooperating with smartparking, an initiative for digital car park management. As in other German cities, all public car parks managed by the city offer the option of "mobile phone parking" in addition to conventional parking machines.

Fee structure with two parking zones in the city centre
The overview plan shows the two charging zones as well as the currently available managed car parks. There are two charging zones, which will be put into operation in stages. The parking ticket machines in the management zone will be installed at the same time as the residents' parking zones go into operation.
In the core zone(charging zone I, blue), you can park for 50 cents per 40 minutes during the charging period (Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sat 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Each additional 20 minutes costs another 50 cents. There is no maximum daily charge.
In charging zone II (red) you can park for 50 cents for the first hour and then for a further 50 cents for every additional 30 minutes during the chargeable period (Mon-Fri 8 am to 6 pm, Sat 8 am to 12 noon). There is a maximum daily charge of EUR 2.50 in charge zone II for long-term parkers and commuters.

Overnight transfer of the parking ticket validity period
In accordance with city council resolution BA-007/2023, the city's parking machines have been converted so that the validity period of a parking ticket purchased in the evening can be carried over to the next day with the corresponding remaining amount after the end of the chargeable period. This means that parking tickets purchased in the evening are still valid into the next day, depending on the amount paid in. The maximum parking time is limited to one day.
