District fire brigades
The first volunteer fire brigade was founded in Chemnitz back in 1854. There are now 15 district fire brigades, which are located around the city centre.
The volunteer fire brigade, with its volunteer members in the district fire brigades, is involved in the overall system of fire protection, disaster control and technical assistance.
Like the fire stations of the professional fire brigade, the equipment depots of the 15 volunteer fire brigades in the city of Chemnitz are located at strategically favourable locations in the city.
