Project: Open sports Sunday for families
Please note:
There will be no Open Sports Sunday on 20 April 2025 (Easter Sunday) and 4 May 2025.
The "Open Sports Sunday" takes place every Sunday (including school holidays) in the following sports halls:
Location 1: Sports hall of the Luisenschule from 10.00 to 12.00 a.m.
Location 2: Sports hall of the vocational school centre for economics 1 from 09.30 to 11.30 a.m.
Location 3: Sports hall of the Dr Salvador Allende Primary School from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m.
Participation in all events is possible at any time and without pre-registration.
Please bring trainers, exercise-friendly clothing and a water bottle for your child/children.
Please also pack weatherproof clothing so that the children can optionally go outside.
Children up to their 4th birthday must be accompanied by an adult.
(bus stops "Luisenplatz" or "Konradstraße").
Location of the sports hall of the Berufsschulzentrum für Wirtschaft 1, Lutherstraße 2, access via the side entrance on the right-hand side of the building via the small car park

What are we doing?
We offer children and young people
- a weekly changing sports and exercise programme, e.g: Games, various sports, coordination training, exercise course
- teaching the basics for a healthy, active lifestyle, e.g. interesting facts about nutrition, relaxation or active leisure activities
- a flexible programme depending on the number and age of the children taking part
We work with a wide range of local organisations in order to be present in the neighbourhoods.
Example procedure
- 9.30/10.00 a.m. (depending on location) Welcome and division into age-appropriate groups
- From approx. 9.45/10.15 a.m. start of the individual groups either in the movement course or on the open space
- Change of groups either after half the time or after a third (depending on whether there are two or three groups)
- If there are three groups, always one group outdoors
- Farewell in the individual groups
What is the project about?
- Together with various partners, we form a network centred around sport, exercise and health.
- We bring exercise into the neighbourhood, make different sporting activities fun and also want to arouse interest in sport in clubs.
- Starting in the Mitte-West neighbourhood, we offer a free, regular exercise programme for children, young people and their families.
- Professional trainers are on hand to supervise you and provide sporting challenges for the whole family.

"Küchwald tour with Ida Igel"
An exercise tour for the whole family
As part of the "Open Sports Sunday" project, you and Ida Igel can explore your neighbourhood together. Come along on an exciting and sporty tour through the Küchwald!
Along the way, you'll learn interesting facts about your neighbourhood and complete short exercise tasks. Use the map to orientate yourself and find the right way!
The tour is about 4.3 kilometres long and takes between 60 and 100 minutes, depending on your walking speed and the activities along the way.
Start and finish is at Luisenplatz. Toilets are available at the park railway station at Küchwaldwiese. The route can of course be modified or shortened or extended independently.
