About the NUMIC 1.0 project

In the "NUMIC - New Urban Mobility Consciousness in Chemnitz" project, citizens worked with the city administration and scientists to plan their future routes for cycling and walking between 2019 and 2022. This citizen-centred participatory approach is intended to promote sustainable urban development in the transport sector. The signposted model route leads from the Sportforum to Zeisigwald and can still be travelled today. Small-scale measures were used to tackle major problems step by step and raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility. At the same time, citizen participation and mobility behaviour were scientifically analysed for nationwide conclusions.

In addition to the city and Chemnitz University of Technology, the TU Dresden, Fraunhofer IAO and Innosabi GmbH are behind the NUMIC joint project. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
