NUMIC 1.0: Model route measures

More than 20 measures have been implemented along the NUMICO model route. These serve to improve road safety and accessibility along the route, among other things, and will remain in place beyond the end of the project. In addition, the focus was also on improving the quality of life for cyclists and pedestrians in order to contribute to sustainable urban development.
Together with consideration

On the NUMICO model route from Adelsbergstraße in the direction of Zeisigwald, you can inspect the numerous measures such as road markings, parklets and traffic light markings and try them out for yourself.
The measures in detail
Information boards
Knowledge to go is available on 3 information boards at important points along the route. They provide information about the project and sustainable mobility and also help with orientation.
moreParklet Zeisigwaldstraße
A parklet was built on Zeisigwaldstraße with the help of Holz-Kombinat. There you can relax, play (chess) or have a nice chat with your neighbours.
moreRepair of Zeisigwaldstrasse
To prevent the walk from becoming an obstacle course, part of Zeisigwaldstraße was repaired and barrier-free crossings were created with the help of the project.
moreRoad markings
Caution suits us all. For this reason, markings have been placed on the surface of the path at 16 points along the NUMICO model route to encourage mutual consideration.
moreSide space Fürstenstraße
The side area of Fürstenstraße was converted into a 5 metre wide crossing facility by means of a structural installation, which provides the necessary safety for crossers.
moreKerb drops
So that you can also reach your destination comfortably and safely on side streets, Clausewitzstraße has been refurbished and kerbs lowered in connection with Fürstenstraße.
moreCrossing Augustusburger Str.
To make the crossing of Augustusburger Straße at Gablenzer Straße safer, a pedestrian island was created and the traffic lights were fitted with signals.
moreCycle route signposts
4 route and 74 intermediate signposts with destination, distance and direction information were installed wherever transport links crossed the route.
moreRepair of H.-Ziegler-Straße
A previously bumpy stretch of Hans-Ziegler-Strasse has been resurfaced over a length of around 500 metres. The even carriageway now makes it an attractive route for all road users.
moreGraffiti walls
Along the NUMICO model route, artist Xin One has embellished three garage walls with graffiti in collaboration with the Altendorf secondary school and the "Johannes Trüper" SPF centre.
moreRelease opposite direction
At a 60 metre long narrow section of Hans-Ziegler-Straße, the one-way street has now been opened up to cyclists by means of an additional sign. Cyclists can now cycle on the road in both directions.
moreParklet Hans-Ziegler-Straße
The new parklet on Hans-Ziegler-Straße was created in collaboration with the Holzkombinat and the Montessori primary school and now offers an attractive place to linger.
moreRainbow-Bench
The new "Rainbow Bench" offers fun and relaxation. It invites you to take a break and relax and can also be used as a climbing element for children.
moreBicycle service station
The bicycle service station was set up so that small defects soon don't become defects. Anyone can fill their bike with air or repair it there free of charge.
moreMobilpunkt teilAuto
Sustainable mobility: In cooperation with teilAuto, a new car-sharing parking space has been created in the immediate vicinity of the Gablenz Centre on Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße.
moreBenches
Nine colourful benches including litter bins were installed along the model route. They now increase the quality of stay and invite people to linger and relax.
moreReconstruction of intersection area
The Geibelstraße / Liselotte-Herrmann-Straße junction was redesigned to be pedestrian-friendly and barrier-free. The 30 km/h zone was also extended.
morePaving of footpath
An existing footpath connecting Reichenhainer Strasse and Eislebener Strasse along the Südring was paved and illuminated.
moreTree planting on Eislebener Str.
To compensate for the paving of the beaten path on Eislebener Straße, 18 trees were planted which now line the new path, including an imperial lime tree.
moreSignpost Zschopauer Str.
The purpose of the new sign on Zschopauer Straße is to avoid long waiting times for pedestrians crossing the road.
moreTraffic light handles
For more comfort when waiting at red lights, cyclists can now use the traffic light handles that have been installed to hold on. However, this is subject to the condition that they do not obstruct other road users.
