NUMIC measure: Mobilpunkt teilAuto
The measure
In cooperation with teilAuto, a new car sharing parking space has been created in the immediate vicinity of the Gablenz Centre on Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße. teilAuto is a company that organises and offers the shared use of cars (car sharing). Such providers make it possible to use a car flexibly when needed without having to own one yourself, thereby promoting sustainable mobility.
The reasons:
Sharing cars instead of owning them - car sharing pays off in several ways. On the one hand, you save the costs of purchasing, repairing or insuring a car. On the other hand, you also do something good for the community by conserving resources and creating more space in the city for other purposes thanks to fewer cars (and fewer parking spaces required). Thanks to car sharing concepts, you don't have to accept a loss of individual mobility if the weather is too bad for cycling or the journey on foot is too long. The location of car sharing parking spaces therefore plays a decisive role. They should offer an easy transition to public transport or be located near central locations such as the Gablenz Centre.
The process:
The car sharing centre is located on the GGG premises. The teilAuto company was approached as part of the NUMIC project to sound out possible joint activities. It turned out that teilAuto was already planning an expansion in the direction of the Yorck area. The NUMIC team then provided support in finding a location, with thanks going to the GGG, which provided the space.
