NUMIC measure: Repair of Hans-Ziegler-Straße
The measure

Nobody likes driving on damaged roads. For this reason, a section of Hans-Ziegler-Straße adjacent to Arthur-Strobel-Straße was also renovated as part of the NUMIC programme. A new base and surface course was laid under the road surface and the surface of the carriageway and pavement was repaired. The even carriageway now makes Hans-Ziegler-Straße an attractive route for all road users.
The reasons:
The choice of mode of transport is significantly influenced by urban planning conditions. Road damage reduces comfort for cyclists and pedestrians and, in the worst case, poses a safety risk. Before the repairs, Hans-Ziegler-Straße had around 206 metres of continuous defects, 114 metres of isolated defects and 192 metres of defects in places.
By repairing the carriageway and repairing the damaged pavement surface, the risk of accidents is minimised and safety is increased for all road users. Road users will also benefit from increased comfort. The result is an attractive carriageway that is suitable for cyclists and pedestrians as well as car users.
The process:
There is a separate department within the city administration for road maintenance. Whether and how a road is repaired depends on many factors, which, as in the case of Zeisigwaldstraße, are coordinated within the entire civil engineering department: How extensive is the damage? Are there other plans for the road? Whether a complete repair is carried out is also limited by the city's currently tight finances.
Costs:
22,000 euros

March to April 2021
