The land at Carl-Hertel-Straße 4 was developed between 1896 and 1897 and the first buildings for the tricot factory were erected. The factory was expanded in the 1930s. Due to structural changes, it was no longer economically viable to continue production until operations ceased in 1995 and the buildings were vacated.

The revitalisation included the demolition of the main building and the extensions down to the lower edge of the foundations and the removal of underground components, heating ducts, sewage systems and pipes. The resulting material was disposed of professionally. The area was then used for greenery.
