The drinking milk bottling plant was built in the 1970s in the southern part of the Zeisigwald and thus in close proximity to the Sonnenberg district.

From the outset, the construction led to controversial disputes, as it represented a serious intervention in the established structure of the Zeisigwald as a park forest and the surrounding Wilhelminian-style development structure. The "political priority of supplying the population" was given priority.

The complex of buildings of the former dairy sealed off the main access to the Zeisigwald and covered a considerable area of the Engelmann pond. As a result, ecological and social concerns have been and still are severely impaired.

The revitalisation is pursuing the following measures in detail:

  • Demolition of the buildings and paved areas
  • Professional dismantling/filling of the emergency water well
  • Removal of contamination from the site
  • Restoration of the original path connection

The aim of the revitalisation is to restore the original character of the forest entrance as a park forest, to sustainably increase the recreational value for the Sonnenberg and Hilbersdorf districts and to significantly improve the environmental situation.
