Konkordiapark on the edge of the city centre is a popular meeting place for young people in the region thanks to its basketball court, among other things. However, the basketball court is considered worn out and does not meet the requirements of basketball players.

As part of the "Take a seat!" campaign for the Capital of Culture 2025, around 1,500 people spoke out in favour of a redesign, which young people were able to influence.

Before the NINERS Chemnitz game against Braunschweig on 4 March 2023 at the Chemnitz Exhibition Centre, Mayor Michael Stötzer and the planning office "sLandArt" presented the various planning options at the exhibition centre. Further ideas and opinions could be contributed via the NUMIC 2.0 survey as part of the public participation programme. In addition, virtual reality glasses enabled guests to experience the future square in a special way.

On 12 August 2023, the "Youth Day" was celebrated in Konkordiapark in Chemnitz under the motto "Your day, your city: skate - dribble - help shape". In addition to an extensive supporting programme, the focus was on presenting the plans for the redesign of the basketball court.

At this second event, the NUMIC team brought the plans to life with the help of virtual reality glasses. Interested parties were thus able to "walk through" the current planning status, view it from different angles and thus form their own opinion of the redesign of the basketball court. In other words, virtually on site - in virtual reality.
