Help for disabled and chronically ill people

The counselling centre in the Office for Health and Prevention works in partnership with the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office and Youth Welfare Office, registered doctors and clinics, care services, medical supply stores, rehabilitation facilities and the Supply and Transport Office.

In their advice centre for physically disabled and chronically ill people, the staff of the social medicine department offer those affected and their relatives, among other things

  • Help in dealing with illness and severe disability,
  • Information, counselling and support with socio-medical and social law issues,
  • Assistance in applying for benefits and financial aid in accordance with Social Code II and XII (SGB II and SGB XII),
  • Mediation of medical services,
  • Arranging care services, medical-therapeutic facilities, housing for wheelchair users, severely disabled people and assisted living facilities
  • Aids counselling,
  • Contact mediation to affected persons and support for self-help groups,
  • Information and assessments on parking facilitation, creation of parking spaces and other special regulations for severely disabled persons in road traffic law.
