Help for the mentally ill - Social psychiatric service

The Social Psychiatric Service (Sozialpsychiatrischer Dienst - SpDi) team, which is made up of doctors, a psychologist, social workers and a nurse, is the point of contact for those affected and their relatives as well as people in their immediate environment in the event of mental illness, mental disability and personal emergencies.

 

The service prepares medical reports within the framework of the Saxon Act on Assistance and Accommodation for Mental Illnesses (SächsPsychKG), care law and integration assistance in accordance with the XIIth Social Code (SGB XII).

 

The counselling and support services include

  • Counselling in mental crises and mental illness in emergency situations,
  • Arranging outpatient care options
  • Information about possible social, insurance and labour law assistance,
  • Support with applications
  • Accompaniment to authorities
  • Telephone counselling
  • Home and clinic visits

Professionally qualified counselling is also available to people working in the field of psychiatry and those involved in the social environment. In addition to providing concrete help in individual cases, it is important to the staff of the social psychiatric service to promote dialogue and thus raise awareness of the concerns of those affected.
